Global Women Asia Welcomes Renu Bhatia and Jonathan Friedland to the Board!
Global Women Asia (GWA) is delighted to announce Renu Bhatia and Jonathan Friedland as the newest members of its Board of Directors.
Renu Bhatia currently serves as Co-Founder of Opharmic Technology, and Independent Non-Executive Director of HutchMed. Renu is a globally recognized leader bridging healthcare, finance, and technology across three continents, where she brings over 25 years of expertise driving innovation at the intersection of medicine and business. She was most recently the Chair of the Listing Committee for the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
Jonathan Friedland is a Pulitzer prize-winning journalist turned media executive. In his role of the Chief Communications Officer at Netflix, he helped transform the company into a worldwide streaming platform; he previously served as SVP of Corporate Communications at The Walt Disney Company. Additionally, Jonathan brings with him over twenty years of experience as a foreign correspondent and bureau chief for The Wall Street Journal and the Far Eastern Economic Review.
Both Renu and Jonathan have been advisors to GWA and participated in our annual fellowship programs.
“Renu’s entrepreneurial spirit, cross-sector expertise in technology and finance, and her intellectual curiosity embody the values of the GWA community,” said Wenchi Yu, Founder and Chairwoman of the Board.
“Jonathan’s diverse corporate and global experience, along with his long-standing allyship, make him a valuable addition to GWA. He has also been a wonderful personal mentor to me and other GWA fellows,” added Yu.
“GWA brings together global connections and diverse perspectives in an environment of collaboration—at a time when businesses are being buffeted by unprecedented change," stated Renu.
“GWA has been doing a first-class job of bringing together fellows from across Asia at a time when it is more necessary than ever to facilitate the global exchange of knowledge and experience and reinforce the value of women entrepreneurs,” said Friedland.
Renu has lived and worked across three continents. Thirty years ago she moved to Hong Kong from New York, where she continues her work in various business and investment roles. Currently, Jonathan resides in Los Angeles, where he works as a strategic advisor to companies, particularly in Asia and Latin America.
GWA is honored to have Renu and Jonathan on our Board of Directors and we look forward to their contribution in strengthening GWA’s efforts to build leadership with Asian perspectives.
